This test is used to monitor phosphorus elimination by the kidneys. The amount of phosphorus eliminated naturally falls off with age. It is INCREASED in vitamin D-resistant rickets, Fanconis syndrome, tubular acidosis and hemopathy. See Phosphorus (Inorganic), Serum
