Short Name: HLA-27
Sample required: EDTA Whole Blood
Result Time: 3 Days

The HLA B27 haplotype is strongly associated with ankylosing spondylitis; most patients with this disease are HLA B27-positive (although only a small fraction of all people with this haplotype actually develop the disease). This haplotype is also associated with secondary arthritis, Reiters syndrome and acute anterior uveitis, although with these conditions the correlation is not so close.
